Before Al Qaida, before ISIS, and before the West struggled to keep these forces in check, a handful of Muslim extremists gathered in lonely, stateless places of the world to plan their campaign to spread their hardened view of Islam.  But for every action, a reaction.  And Cawl Eassom, a contract killer, and a small team of specialists are hired by western spy agencies to hunt in the far reaches of the Sahara for the seeds of Islamic terrorism.  For Cawl, culture is a weapon, and he uses it to get close to his targets.  However, deep in the Maghreb, Cawl understimates the desert, its people and Islam.
